Geological Advisor

LOCATION:   Texas

OVERVIEW

Our client is seeking an experienced and well-rounded geoscientist who will provide technical expertise on the Gulf of Mexico to the Americas Regional Team to enhance company focus in our deep water exploration activities. Background strengths can be in either geology or geophysics, but preference will be given to candidates that have a cross-disciplinary background. The regional team generates technical products and understanding that will materially impact GoM acreage pursuit and prospect maturation.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop new play concepts
• 2D and 3D regional seismic interpretation, including sub-salt and structurally complex areas with lesser quality imaging
• Data integration and regional map compilation from disparate data sets
• Contribute map products that define and constrain play-fairways
• Stratigraphic interpretation from well logs and seismic
• Perform or contribute to petroleum systems analyses (basin models, fluid systems, geopressure)
• Databasing and quality control with the appropriate capture of data and interpretive products
• Mentor interns and foundation phase geoscientists

COMPETENCIES:

• Technical expertise or familiarity with the regional geology of the U.S. Gulf Coast and adjacent offshore areas
• Structural understanding of, and seismic interpretation experience in, salt basins or areas with mobile substrate
• Technical experience in, or practical knowledge of, PDSM seismic processing in and around complex allochthonous salt geometries
• Structure and isochore mapping, regional map integration from disparate data sets
• Basic skills in log analysis and correlation

EXPERIENCE:

• 8 or more years experience in the Oil/Gas industry, preferably within basins with mobile substrate
• Gulf of Mexico experience is desired but not necessary

EDUCATION/TRAINING:

B.S. in Geology or Geophysics (or related field) is required. An advanced degree in Geology or Geophysics is preferred
